Sonja Chan is a Eurasian actress, born in Bregenz, Austria. Her father was from Hong Kong and her mother is Austrian.
Her first entrance on the stage was as a model, at the age of 5. As a child, she naturally took to entertaining all the guests in her parents’ Chinese restaurant. She was well known for her spontaneous outbursts of singing and telling jokes, or even reciting poems.
Immediately after graduating from high school with her leaving certificate, at university entrance level, she attended a drama school in Vienna. She graduated, after 3 years, with the Austrian acting diploma in 2012.
Since then, Sonja has acted in a number of TV series, in featured roles along with leading roles in ensemble theatre companies. She has been privileged to work with a range of famous directors from TV and film who have had a profound influence on her work.
Sonja’s drive for experience has taken her far and wide, from Austria to Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany thus far.
In 2019 she was engaged in one of the most famous TV shows in Austria: “Vorstadtweiber”. It was her first supporting role to take her up for a full season, where she also gained valuable experience working with the highly professional and experienced directors and actors who have kept the show going for years.
A new chapter has begun in 2020, with her having moved to London to pursue her burgeoning career as an actress in a more competitive but hopefully rewarding centre for the arts and entertainment.
